Why the Ceriatone Klein-ulator?
Designed by Michael W. Klein, the Mini Klein-ulator is an attempt to recreate the design of the vacuum tube-driven effects loop designed by Howard Dumble. This highly sought after and expensive unit proved difficult to recreate - so, some modifications were in order. After careful testing, the Klein-ulator held its own against the original unit.
What Sets the Klein-ulator Apart?
The Klein-ulator is a pedalboard-friendly and affordable alternative to its cost-prohibitive predecessor. The Klein-ulator will smooth your tone and preserve your signal, while matching the frequency response as the original tube unit. It also features a number of additional controls to allow for even more tone shaping.
Solid State Vs. Tube
The tubes in the original unit served a number of purposes, and tubes work well in this application. But there are other viable alternatives. In this case, a JFET buffer performed equally as well as its tube alternative, while allowing for more reliability, less maintenance, and a smaller format.
